Ohio’s Library Budget: What’s Next?
This is just the beginning—Ohio’s Public Library Funding is far from settled. In fact, this is the first of many steps before Ohio’s budget deadline on June 30th.

On Wednesday, April 9th, the Ohio House will vote on the current proposed budget. Afterward, both the Ohio House and Senate will take an Easter Break.

In May, the budget will move to the Ohio Senate. The Senate may either accept the House’s budget, make revisions, or discard it entirely and start from scratch.

The next step is for both the Ohio House and Senate to reconcile their differences and agree on a final budget. This version will then be sent to the Governor for review. He has the power to remove items but cannot add anything new.

The finalized budget must be in place by July 1, 2025, to take effect.

As we continue through this process, we encourage you to keep supporting the library by using our services. We will provide updates as the budget moves through the Senate and let you know how you can help.

Once again, thank you for everything you’ve done to support us, ensuring we can keep serving you!
